Deborah Webb “Debbie” Wheeler, aged 70, of Wilson, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, November 15, 2024.
A funeral service to honor Debbie’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 20, at 2:00 PM at West Nash United Methodist Church. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Evergreen Memorial Park. Prior to the service, friends and family are invited to a visitation at Wilson Memorial Service, Wilson NC, on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 7:30 PM. The family will also receive visitors at the home of her sister, Billie Craft, located at 3209 Quinn Drive.
Debbie’s departure from this earthly realm marks her journey to her heavenly home. She was cherished as a sister, aunt, great-aunt, and a dear friend to many. Known for her generous spirit and compassionate nature, Debbie possessed a truly loving soul. Above all else, she was a devout Christian who loved the Lord deeply.
Her commitment to service was evident through her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and the Maggie Society. Debbie also contributed generously to numerous other organizations that held a special place in her heart. Family was paramount to Debbie, and she was always a supportive and present Aunt Debbie whenever needed.
Debbie embraced an active lifestyle and found joy in the outdoors, whether tending to her yard or enjoying long walks. She had a profound love for animals, and her dogs were fortunate to experience a life of comfort and care under her roof. Music and dancing were passions of Debbie’s, and she relished moments of laughter shared with loved ones. She was also a dedicated “gym rat,” spending considerable time exercising at the YMCA, her favorite fitness haven.
Debbie was a beautiful person both inside and out. Her vibrant personality and deep affection for family and friends will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
She is survived by her loving sisters, Billie Craft and George Ann Winstead (Mark); nieces, Ashley Rhodes (Dusty), Markie Winstead (Richie); nephews, William Craft (Julie), Alex Winstead (Daisy); great-nephews Colton Ferris and Will Rhodes; great-niece, Keaton Tyner; special friend, Micky Barnes; step-son, Drew Wheeler (Heather); brother-in-law, Duane Wheeler (Pam); sister-in-law, Terri Tkachuk (Jilian), and her beloved fur baby, Edie.
Debbie was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Thomas Wheeler, who passed away in March 2021; her parents, William “Bill” and Doris Rose Webb of Wilson County; her stepfather, Ronald Hearne; brother-in-law, Tom Craft; and her grandparents, George and Myrtle Webb, and George and Kate Rose.
