Empowering Student Success Through Comprehensive Enrichment Services

The Student Enrichment Center at Cameron University is dedicated to fostering student persistence and degree completion. Our mission is to identify and support at-risk students by providing personalized services that enhance their academic journey and overall success. We offer a holistic approach to student development, ensuring every student has the resources they need to thrive.

Academic Coaching Services for Enhanced Learning

Our Student Success Coaches (SSCs) are committed to helping students develop essential academic skills. Through individualized coaching, SSCs assist students in mastering goal setting, implementing effective learning strategies, improving time management, and strengthening organizational skills. These personalized sessions are designed to empower students to navigate the challenges of university life and achieve their academic aspirations. For students who are undecided about their major, our SSCs also provide invaluable academic advising, guiding them through the exploration process until they are ready to transition to a departmental advisor within their chosen field.

Financial Enrichment Services and Resources

Navigating the financial aspects of college can be daunting. Our Financial Resource Specialist (FRS) provides student-centered counseling to address all financial concerns related to higher education. Students can receive guidance on understanding college costs, exploring diverse funding options, navigating financial aid processes, understanding university billing, and identifying both internal and external scholarship opportunities. Beyond immediate financial aid, the FRS also equips students with crucial life skills, offering workshops and resources on budgeting, saving, investing, responsible spending, and effective debt management.

To further support financial literacy, we recommend utilizing valuable resources such as the OKMM Budgeting Tool to gain control of your finances. Additionally, proactively managing your financial health by regularly checking your credit reports – available free annually from each agency – is a critical step in preventing identity theft and maintaining financial well-being.

Workforce Readiness and Career Development Services

Preparing students for successful careers is a core component of our Student Enrichment Services. Our Work-Based Learning Experience Coordinator (WLEC) is dedicated to helping students cultivate essential job skills and foster professional development through initiatives like the CU Learn to Earn program. The WLEC offers comprehensive career-related resources, programs, workshops, personalized services, and valuable opportunities designed to empower students for the workforce. These services are available to all Cameron University students free of charge, ensuring equitable access to career advancement tools.

Community and On-Campus Resource Navigation

Recognizing that student success extends beyond academics, our Community Resource Coordinator (CRC) acts as a vital link between students and essential support systems. The CRC connects students with a wide array of community resources addressing fundamental needs such as food security, housing assistance, mental health support, and healthcare access. Furthermore, the CRC is knowledgeable about on-campus resources, ensuring students are aware of and can easily access the full spectrum of support services available within the university.
