As a customer, you agree to use the service in a way that does not negatively impact other users’ experience or SECV’s network performance. In situations where excessive data usage strains the network, SECV reserves the right to employ network management tools for brief periods to ensure optimal performance for the majority of users, as permitted by FCC regulations.

New to SECV Internet? Take advantage of our special introductory offer! For a limited time, new customers can enjoy a 20% discount on internet service for the first twelve (12) months. After this promotional period, regular rates will apply, which are also subject to change. This discounted internet service can be canceled at any time without incurring any early termination fees. This offer is exclusively for new customers who have not subscribed to SECV Internet within the past three months. Modem Recommendations and Requirements
For the best possible internet experience and dedicated support, renting a modem directly from SECV is highly recommended. However, you have the option to purchase your own modem from a third-party retailer. If you choose to use your own modem, please ensure it is a DOCSIS 3.1 modem with a minimum of 24×8 channel bonding for optimal performance. Customers using their own modems are responsible for troubleshooting modem-related issues using the manufacturer’s user manual. It’s important to note that some third-party modems may not be capable of achieving upgraded speeds. Our technical service representatives provide full support only for modems rented directly from SECV. As a bonus, customers subscribing to our 1 Gig or 2 Gig service tiers receive a modem rental at no additional charge.
Achieving 2 Gig Speeds: Technical Requirements
To experience the maximum speeds of our 2 Gig service, specific equipment is required. A CM9200 modem is necessary and must be connected via a wired Ethernet connection. Furthermore, your desktop or laptop computer must be equipped with a minimum of a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) or a USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter to handle these ultra-fast speeds.
Network Security and IP Addresses
For security and network management purposes, SECV blocks certain IP traffic on specific ports, including TCP 25, TCP 80, TCP 443, TCP 445, TCP 1080, TCP 6667-6669, TCP 1433-1434, TCP&UDP 135-139, TCP&UDP 67. This is done to protect our customers’ computers from virus infections through known vulnerabilities and to prevent compromised devices from impacting other users on the network.
Regarding IP addresses, customers will either receive 2 dynamic public IP addresses via DHCP or 2 dynamic private IPs behind Network Address Translation (NAT) via DHCP. Customers receiving NAT’d private IPs should be aware that all inbound ports will be blocked unless opened by an outbound request due to the NAT operation.
