Accessing Your UIUC Transcripts: A Guide to Self-Service and More

Obtaining your academic transcript from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) is a straightforward process designed to provide you with your official academic record efficiently. The Office of the Registrar is responsible for issuing these official documents, which detail your coursework, grades, GPA, and degrees earned. For current and former students alike, UIUC offers convenient methods to request and receive both official and unofficial transcripts, primarily through Self Service Uiuc.

Official Transcripts via Student Self-Service

For the quickest and most convenient access to your official transcripts, self service uiuc is your primary portal. UIUC’s Student Self-Service system allows current and recent students with active logins to order official transcripts online. These transcripts are available in both PDF and paper formats. It’s important to note that official transcripts reflect final grades as they appear in Student Self-Service, which may differ from grades shown in course-specific learning management systems like Canvas or Moodle. Each official transcript costs $8 per copy, payable at the time of your order.

Link for Current Students: Student Self-Service

Current students and recent alumni who still have access to their Student Self-Service login credentials can easily order official transcripts. Simply navigate to the Student Services link on the myUIconnect page within Student Self-Service to initiate your online request.

Link for Alumni and Former Students: Parchment

For alumni and former students who may no longer have active Student Self-Service logins, UIUC partners with Parchment, a trusted transcript service. Parchment provides a secure and efficient way to request and send your official UIUC transcripts electronically or via mail.

Link to Check Your Order Status: Parchment

You can also track the status of your transcript order through the Parchment website, ensuring you stay informed throughout the process.

Note: If you only need to review your academic record and do not require an official transcript, you can print your academic history directly from Student Self-Service. This transcript service is specifically for the Urbana-Champaign campus. For transcripts from the University of Illinois Springfield or University of Illinois Chicago, please visit www.uis.edu and www.uic.edu respectively. Please be aware that records for UIC College of Medicine and College of Nursing students are managed at the University of Illinois Chicago.

If you’ve forgotten your University Identification Number (UIN), you can easily search for it here.

Unofficial Transcripts: Quick Access for Current Students

Self service uiuc also provides access to unofficial transcripts for current and recent students. By logging into Student Self-Service and selecting “Student Services” on the myUIconnect page, you can find the “View Academic History/Unofficial Transcript” option under Records. From there, you can easily print your unofficial transcript to paper or save it as a PDF using your browser’s print function.

Former students who no longer have access to Student Self-Service can obtain unofficial paper transcripts in person only. These are available at the Records Service Center within the Office of the Registrar. You must present a photo ID and pick up the transcript yourself, as unofficial transcripts cannot be faxed, mailed, or emailed by the office to former students.

Holding Your Transcript Order for Grades or Degree Conferral

You have the option to request a transcript hold until final grades or your degree for the current semester are officially recorded. This option is available when you place your order. However, if you anticipate a grade change, it’s advisable to wait until the change is reflected in Student Self-Service before ordering your transcript. The Registrar’s Office does not hold transcripts for grade changes or maintenance updates.

Transcripts held for degree conferral are typically released approximately four weeks after your degree conferral date. You can check your degree status in the Academic History section of Student Self-Service. If your degree status shows “Awarded” and is no longer “Pending” before the scheduled release date (found on the Academic Calendar), you can contact the Transcripts Unit at 217-333-9778 to request immediate processing of your transcript order.

Mail-in and Fax Transcript Requests

While online ordering through self service uiuc or Parchment is recommended, you can still submit transcript requests via mail or fax. You will need to download and complete the Transcript Order Form and submit it according to the instructions on the form.

Common Application College Report

Students transferring from UIUC to institutions using the Common Application should first confirm if the College Report is required by the receiving institution. If it is, detailed instructions for completing and submitting the report can be found here. Please allow up to four weeks for processing due to coordination with the Dean of Students Office.
