Navigating Jefferson County Department of Social Services

The main entrance and parking for the Department of Social Services are located at the rear of the building on Massey Street in Watertown. Visitors must use this entrance as all others are locked. Applying for Benefits

Jefferson County Human Services offers online and in-person application options for various assistance programs, including Temporary Assistance, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), and HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program).

  • HEAP Cooling Program: Opens April 15th, 2025

Chafee Funds Program – Beyond

This program provides direct cash assistance to eligible youth currently or formerly in foster care.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Aged 21-22 and discharged from foster care at age 18 or older; OR
  • Aged 21-22 and currently in foster care; OR
  • Aged 18-20, discharged from foster care at age 18 or older, and no longer in care.

Report any employment or income changes, including unemployment or reduced work hours, to Jefferson County Department of Social Services, as these changes may affect your SNAP benefits.
