This secure platform ensures you have 24/7 access to your personal employment details.

Activating and Managing Your Durham Tech Account

Your Durham Tech account credentials serve as your key to accessing all college online services, including email, Canvas, and Self-Service. If you are a new employee or need to reset your password, follow these steps:

Activating or Resetting Your Password

To activate your account or reset a forgotten password, navigate to the Activate/Reset Your Password page. You will be prompted to enter your username and Durham Tech student ID number. Click “NEXT” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the activation or password reset process.

Understanding Your Username

Your Durham Tech username is constructed using a combination of your last name and student ID. Specifically, it consists of your last name (up to the first 15 letters), followed by your first initial, and the last four digits of your student ID. For example, if your name is Barbara Jones and your student ID ends in 2222, your username would be jonesb2222.

Password Requirements and Security

When choosing a password for your Durham Tech account, ensure it meets security requirements to protect your information. Passwords must be between 8 and 20 characters long and meet at least three of the following criteria:

  • Lowercase character (a-z)
  • Uppercase character (A-Z)
  • Numeric character (0-9)
  • Special character (!@#$%^&()+=)

Using a combination of these character types will create a strong and secure password. Remember that both usernames and passwords are case-sensitive.

Account Lockout and Security Measures

For security reasons, multiple incorrect login attempts will result in your account being temporarily disabled. If your account is locked due to too many failed login attempts, you do not need to contact the system administrator. Simply wait 20 minutes, and the system will automatically reset your account, allowing you to try logging in again with the correct credentials. Durham Tech employs encryption to protect your information transmitted online, ensuring your data remains secure.
