The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is pleased to announce the continuation of its free Document Shredding Services for the community into its 17th year in 2024. These valuable events offer residents a secure and convenient way to dispose of sensitive personal documents, protecting them from identity theft and ensuring data security. All confirmed shredding events will take place on Saturdays and will last for approximately 3 hours. Be sure to check the schedule below for dates and times and keep an eye on this page for newly added events.
Drive-Thru Shredding Events: How It Works
For all 2024 events, a convenient drive-thru service will be in place. Upon arrival, you may be asked to exit your vehicle to hand your boxes of documents to an event attendant. Alternatively, an attendant may come directly to your vehicle to take your documents and transfer them to a secure bin for on-site shredding. Rest assured, the document shredding will be completed right there at the event location before you leave. Your empty containers, such as cardboard boxes or bins, will be promptly returned to you. If you are bringing your documents in plastic bags, please ensure they are untied to facilitate quicker access for shredding. To ensure everyone in the community has the opportunity to participate in these free document shredding services, we kindly request a limit of 5 boxes per vehicle.
What Documents Can You Shred?
We accept a wide range of personal paper documents for shredding. This includes any personal papers that are loose, folded, stapled, or contained in envelopes. Before attending a Shred-A-Thon event, please take a moment to check your documents and remove any foreign objects. In past events, we have unfortunately found items mixed in with documents that could potentially damage the shredding machinery. These unexpected items have included things like large seashells, rocks, batteries, computer mice, computer cables, and even clothing. Your cooperation in ensuring only paper documents are presented for shredding helps keep these free community events running smoothly.
Please note that documents from businesses will not be accepted. Additionally, personal videos, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, photographs, photo slides, and credit cards are also not accepted at these events.
Secure and Reliable Document Destruction
To provide you with secure and reliable document shredding services, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has partnered with Assured Document Shredding. This partnership ensures that your documents are destroyed confidentially and professionally.
These important community events are offered free of charge to the public thanks to the generous time and dedication of the Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers. Take advantage of these document shredding services to protect your sensitive information and contribute to a safer community.
