Understanding the Health and Recreation Access Fee

To enhance access to our comprehensive services, we are pleased to introduce the new Health and Recreation Access Fee. This opt-in fee is designed for specific student populations who may not automatically be enrolled in our health and wellness programs through tuition.

Who is eligible?

This fee is available to:

  • Summer Students (Non-Enrolled): Flagstaff Mountain students who are not enrolled in summer sessions but plan to enroll in the future Fall term.
  • 2NAU Students: Students enrolled in the 2NAU program.
  • Non-Flagstaff Mountain Campus Students: Students enrolled at NAU but not based at the Flagstaff Mountain campus.

What does the fee include?

For a fee of $206, eligible students gain access to a wide array of services for the entire summer period, including:

  • Campus Health Services: Access to Medical, Counseling, and Health Promotion services.
  • Campus Recreation: Access to recreational facilities and programs.

Important Note for Flagstaff Mountain Summer Enrolled Students: If you are a Flagstaff Mountain student enrolled in summer classes, you automatically have access to these services through the mandatory Health and Wellness Tuition fee and do not need to pay this additional access fee.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Access Fee

What exactly is the Health and Recreation Access fee?

This is an optional fee that provides you with the opportunity to access both Campus Health Services and Campus Recreation facilities and programs if you are not automatically covered through tuition.

What services are included under this fee?

The Health and Recreation Access fee grants you access to all Campus Health Services (Medical, Counseling, and Health Promotion) as well as Campus Recreation facilities.

How can I opt-in and pay for the Health and Recreation Access fee?

You can submit an opt-in request through the Health and Recreation Access fee form.

Who is eligible to pay this fee?

Eligibility extends to: Summer NAU Flagstaff Mountain students not enrolled in summer sessions but eligible for future Fall enrollment; 2NAU students; and Non-Flagstaff Mountain Campus enrolled NAU students during Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.

Is partial payment of the access fee accepted?

No, full payment of the access fee is required to gain access to the services.

How soon after payment can I access the services?

The system updates the day after payment. However, if you require immediate access, presenting your payment receipt to the staff at the service location will grant you access.

If I’m charged the mandatory tuition fee, do I still need to pay this access fee?

No, if you have already been charged the mandatory Health and Wellness Tuition fee, you are already covered and do not need to pay the Health and Recreation Access fee.

What exactly does the Health and Recreation access fee cover and what are the additional costs?

The access fee covers the access to Campus Health and Campus Recreation Services. It does not cover additional service costs at Campus Health Services, such as consultation fees, treatments, lab tests, or counseling sessions. These service-specific costs are separate and will need to be paid for individually.
