Bruce Lynwood Carter, a devoted son, husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at 68 on February 25, 2025. A Life Dedicated to Family and Faith

Born to George and Ruby Carter, Bruce was a dedicated family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Lynda Lou Carter; his daughters, Helen Marie Carter-Shupe (Christopher) and Annette Carter-Mabry (Jed); and his grandchildren, Tabbetha Marie Shupe, Evelynn Grace Mabry, and his unborn grandchild, Nathaniel Jude Mabry. He was preceded in death by his twin grandsons, Andrew Marshall Mabry and Thomas Lynwood Mabry, and his brother, Thomas William Carter. His brother, George Dean Carter, survives him.

A devout member of Fort Trial Baptist Church, Bruce actively shared his faith. He served the church for many years, driving the van and contributing in countless ways. His kindness and dedication touched the lives of many within the congregation and community.

A Passion for Work and Life’s Simple Pleasures

Bruce worked as a machinist at Technical Machining in Martinsville for many years. He was known for his meticulous work ethic and commitment to quality. Customers often requested his services specifically, trusting in his ability to deliver exceptional results. Beyond his professional life, Bruce found joy in gardening, sharing his love for nature with his family.

He cherished moments spent with his grandchildren, often giving them rides on his tractor. Music also held a special place in his heart, as he enjoyed playing guitar and singing hymns with loved ones.

Celebrating a Life Well Lived: Services with Bassett Funeral Service

Bassett Funeral Service will host a visitation for friends and family on Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fort Trial Baptist Church. A Homecoming Service will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Fort Trial Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. George Dean Carter, Rev. Daniel Reed, and Rev. Tony Beach. Burial will follow at Henry Memorial Park.
