A new cleaning service in Lubbock, Texas, has ignited a debate about the boundaries of adult entertainment and legality. Lubbock Fantasy Maid Service, which has been operating for approximately a month, offers a unique twist on traditional house cleaning: maids who will perform their duties nude upon request.
According to owner Melissa Borrett, the business was born out of financial necessity. A single mother with experience in the service industry, including waitressing at a strip club, Borrett sought a way to be her own boss. Her solution was to combine domestic cleaning with adult appeal, offering clients the option of maids in lingerie, topless, or fully nude. The company’s website explicitly states these options are available, catering to a clientele interested in more than just a spotless home.
The pricing structure reflects the novelty of the service, with one maid costing $100 per hour and two maids priced at $150 per hour. Star, one of the maids, anonymously confirmed the nature of the work, stating she is not ashamed of her profession. Borrett emphasizes that safety is a priority, stating that security personnel accompany the maids to all appointments. She also insists that Lubbock Fantasy Maid Service is a legitimate cleaning business with a strict “no touching” policy, and explicitly denies any exchange of sexual services for money. “We really clean houses,” Borrett asserted.
However, local law enforcement views the business model differently. Sergeant Jonathan Stewart of the Lubbock Police Department argues that the service qualifies as a sexually oriented business. Under Lubbock city ordinances, such businesses are required to obtain a permit to operate legally. Stewart stated that Lubbock Fantasy Maid Service does not possess the necessary permit and is therefore operating unlawfully. He clarified that “just the fact employees are topless or semi nude in this case – it’s just not allowed” without proper authorization. Continued operation without a permit could result in daily fines of $2,000.
Despite the legal challenges, Borrett remains confident in her business. She maintains that Lubbock Fantasy Maid Service is simply a cleaning service with an entertaining element and claims business is thriving. She reports a diverse customer base, including college students, business professionals, and even paramedics, and offers discounts to law enforcement personnel.
While police and the Sheriff’s Department have indicated they will investigate if complaints are filed, Borrett is prepared to seek legal counsel if necessary. Authorities have confirmed that customers of the service will not face legal repercussions. The situation in Lubbock highlights the complexities and legal grey areas surrounding adult entertainment and service-based businesses, as Lubbock Fantasy Maid Service continues to operate amidst growing scrutiny.
