Living Spaces presents itself as a go-to destination for home furnishings, but my personal experience paints a drastically different picture, one marred by abysmal customer service and a complete lack of accountability. Frankly, I am struggling to articulate just how disappointing and frustrating my dealings with this company have been. From overpriced products to nonexistent communication, my journey with Living Spaces has been nothing short of a customer service catastrophe.
It began with a custom couch order. Fully aware that Living Spaces’ prices were steeper than competitors, I was drawn to a particular style and feel that I couldn’t find elsewhere. Willing to invest in quality and aesthetics, I placed the order for the custom couch. To ensure a smooth process, I even opted for their “pro delivery” service, hoping to avoid any potential hassles. This decision, however, quickly proved to be the first in a series of disappointments.
Upon further research online, I discovered that delivery should have been complimentary for my location. Instead, I was unfairly charged a $99 delivery fee on a $2600 couch. This initial upcharge felt like a dishonest start to what would become a truly nightmarish customer service experience.
Weeks turned into over a month, and finally, the anticipated delivery day arrived. However, what arrived at my doorstep was far from the custom couch I had painstakingly ordered. The delivery team unloaded two separate halves of couches, each mismatched, with different accents and pillows. It was immediately apparent that I had received parts from two different orders, a bizarre mix-and-match of someone else’s furniture and a fraction of my own.
To their credit, the delivery personnel were helpful and attempted to rectify the situation immediately. They spent an hour on hold with Living Spaces’ dispatch, trying to sort out the egregious error before even leaving my home. Eventually, they managed to speak with a dispatch manager who promised a callback the following day to resolve the delivery mishap.
That promised call never materialized. A week passed in silence, with no communication from Living Spaces. Exasperated, I took the initiative and called them. I was informed, vaguely, that the “rest” of my couch was “on the way” and advised to visit a physical store for more concrete details. Following their instructions, I went to a Living Spaces store, seeking clarity and resolution.
The in-store experience was equally frustrating. After being passed between several staff members, I finally received an unsatisfactory update: the missing part of my couch might arrive in “another month or so,” with no firm delivery date provided. This indefinite timeframe was completely unworkable as I was scheduled to leave town for several months and would be unable to receive a delivery at such an uncertain time. Consequently, I requested a return of the partial, incorrect delivery.
This is where Living Spaces’ customer service reached a new low. I was informed that returning their incorrectly delivered items would incur a staggering $500 restocking fee. The audacity of this policy was astounding. Why should I be penalized financially for their mistake? Should I, in turn, charge Living Spaces a storage fee for housing half a mismatched couch that was not even what I ordered? The prospect of paying $500 for their failure to deliver the correct product was insulting.
Despite my protests and the obvious error on their part, I was simply informed that someone would contact me regarding the return process. Two months have now elapsed, and predictably, I have received absolutely no communication from Living Spaces. I am left with a half-couch, a hefty bill, and a complete lack of resolution. I am now forced to contemplate my next steps, burdened by the consequences of Living Spaces’ incompetence.
The sheer scale of this customer service failure is breathtaking. The thought that I had considered furnishing my entire house through Living Spaces now seems utterly ludicrous. Based on this experience, I can unequivocally state that I will never, under any circumstances, shop at Living Spaces again. This ordeal serves as a stark warning to any potential customers: proceed with extreme caution and be prepared for a potentially disastrous customer service experience.
