Carolyn Campbell Jones, aged 77, a resident of Wilson, North Carolina, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025. Her life will be honored and remembered in a Celebration of Life Service at Peace Church in Wilson on Friday, January 31, at 11:00 AM. Following the service, the family will receive visitors at the church.
Mrs. Jones was predeceased by her beloved husband, Don Jones, who passed away in 2012, and her parents, James and Louise Dunivent Campbell. Her memory will be cherished by her surviving family, including her daughters, Jennifer Whitley (Jimmy) of Smithfield and Jessica Mayo of Morehead City; her granddaughter, Presley Joyner (Brandon) of Princeton; her sister, Dorothy Modlin of Wilson; her niece, Kimberly Lucas of Wilson; and her great-niece, Avery Lucas of Wilson.
Alongside her husband, Carolyn dedicated herself to creating a nurturing Christian home for her daughters. Balancing a fulfilling career as a registered nurse at Wilson Medical Center, where she served for many years, often working the night shift, she remained deeply involved in her daughters’ lives. She consistently supported their activities, from school recitals to sporting events, and prioritized the family’s spiritual life by ensuring they attended church together.
After a distinguished career spanning over 40 years in nursing, Carolyn embraced her retirement with enthusiasm and a continued commitment to service. She generously volunteered her time at Peace Church, actively participated in church activities, and treasured moments spent with her family and a wide circle of friends. Carolyn found joy and purpose in working with her hands, expressing her creativity through quilting, sewing, gardening, and canning. Among all her pursuits, her most cherished moments were those spent with her granddaughter and extending help to others. Driven by a compassionate heart, Carolyn consistently sought ways to assist those in need. Her dedication to service extended beyond her local community, as she embarked on mission trips to Mexico and Romania during her retirement, embodying her lifelong commitment to helping others.
